Grand Turk Island

Aruba

Grand Turk can be summed up in one word – Secluded!

This little island is a 35-minute "puddle jumper" flight from "Provo" and can be encircled by bicycle in an hour’s time.

Only 1200 tourists visit Grand Turks annually to enjoy the white beaches that awaits you a few steps from your hotel room’s door. There are few hotels, condos and restaurants, so be prepared to eat at "neighborhood" establishments, enjoy spectacular diving and quiet times. Bring your own fun!

Because of the quaintness of the island the bartenders, waitresses and diving locals soon know your name. Tailoring eating, drinking and diving schedules to fit your requirements and desires are of  little problem. No structured schedules here, this is true "island time" at it’s finest. You eat, drink, and dive at your leisure… I loved it!

THE BEST YET.

Awesome….. Awesome….. Awesome

The dive operation pulls up in the front of your hotel in small 20' boats and whisks you off to dive sites that can be seen from the beach. The dive group is limited to no more than10 divers per guide, a number that allows for total enjoyment by all. Very short boat rides over crystal blue, glass-like seas put you over tremendous wall diving sites.

A back-roll entry, descent to a sandy bottom 30’below, a short swim followed by the ultimate breathtaking wall dive opening before your eyes. Fish life abounds everywhere, turtles, eels, grouper, barracuda, butterflyfish, angelfish, all playing around some of the largest, most colorful coral and sponge formations I have ever seen. One dive brought me my first seahorse viewing.

A night dive provided the most spectacular walls of orange based, yellow tipped coral waving in the current ever witnessed.

Undersea creatures of all sizes are found, from small yellow-head jawfish, sand eels, to eagle rays, sharks and even whales! Whales pass by Grand Turks on their migration path during December-January and make the return trip April-May, my return trip to Grand Turks will coincide with their migration.

The diving is easy and presents no problems for all skill levels. Special trips to Gibbs Caye are a weekly event. During the boat ride you dive for coach, that are later turned into the freshest cerviche possible, hand-feed string rays, and enjoy a cook-out all provided with rum punch --A MUST DO --

For a true "Dive Only Vacation" without the crowds, hassles, noise, traffic Grand Turks can’t be beat!
