Though Peter Hughes Diving, Inc. began in 1991 when Peter purchased the M/V
Sea Dancer from DIVI Resorts, he has been a strong leader in the diving industry for many
years and the extent of his business has grown quickly to include ownership and/or
operation of a land-based diving facility and a fleet of seven liveaboards across the
globe.
In January 1987, Peter Hughes and DIVI Resorts
launched their concept of a luxury liveaboard dive vessel with the
M/V Sea Dancer. She took her first divers into the waters off Grand Turk. In March 1990 Sea Dancer moved to
Providenciales Turks
& Caicos. (Nitrox is available)
Feb. 1992 saw the M/V Wave Dancer follow the Sea Dancer into the
Peter Hughes fleet. Wave Dancer was based out of Belize. Wave Dancer still runs divers out of
Belize City to Turneffe Islands, Lighthouse and Glovers Reefs. (Nitrox is available)
In December of 1992, Peter opened Princess Divers at Princess Beach Resort
& Casino on Curacao in the
Netherlands Antilles. Featuring a full service dive facility offering sales, service and
instruction from basic introductory resort courses to advanced and specialty
certifications. (Nitrox is available)
In May 1994, the next addition to Peter Hughes' fleet, M/V Sun
Dancer, began operation in Palau, Micronesia. In February 1997 Sun Dancer was replaced by
the all new M/V Sun Dancer II.
May 1995 saw M/V Wind Dancer join the Peter Hughes liveaboard
fleet operating out of Roatan
in the Bay Islands of Honduras.
In January, 1997, FeBrina (joint ownership with Peter Hughes) was
refit bringing the total number of guests to 14 and adding some in-suite facilities.
FeBrina treats its guests to dive experiences along Northern New Britain Island.
January, 1997 also brought the all new 138' M/V Sun Dancer II
into operations in Palau. M/V Sun Dancer II accommodates 20 guests in 10 large double
occupancy staterooms. (Nitrox is available)
Peter Hughes began operations with M/V Moon Dancer out of
Hurghada in the Egyptian Red Sea in February, 1997.
In February, 1997, M/V Star Dancer began operations alongside
M/V FeBrina in Papua New Guinea.
With no immediate growth plans, it is Peter's intention to fine
tune the existing Peter Hughes Fleet, ensuring that it remains the best in world.
